A sneak peek into what might be our new home...
I’m feeling uncharacteristically nervous about this, so do be kind. And if you can’t be kind, at least be distracted by the gorgeous windows.
I always imagined my debut on camera would involve something grander—an Oscar acceptance speech, perhaps, or at the very least an awkward local news interview about saving hedgehogs. Instead, here I am, tiptoeing into the world of vlogging with an extremely windswept hairdo, flustered face and a shaky attempt at holding a camera straight while looking at the wrong part of it. And I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, but you’ll be coming with me to what I hope will become our new home.
Yes, dear reader, I’ve decided to film it. After all, there’s only so much you can convey about a potential Georgian dream house with words. Sometimes you need to see the peeling wallpaper, creaking floorboards, and the full drama of a slightly leaky roof in all its cinematic glory.
What’s in the vlog?
In this inaugural, slightly chaotic attempt at filmmaking, I’ll take you with me to visit what we hope will be the house. It’s got everything: wonky windows, walled gardens, mysteriously rambling layout (anyone else immediately assume “secret smuggler tunnels” when they see a suspicious door?), and enough issues to keep me awake at night planning where to even start.
But it’s a house with promise. And possibly rising damp. But mostly promise.
And because I’ve never done this before, you’ll also get to witness me narrating in real time as I try to figure out what certain architectural features are. “Why is there a tin jar lid stuck in the ceiling? Who knows, but isn’t it quaint?”
So, if you’ve ever wanted to nosy around a slightly ramshackle Georgian house in the English countryside—and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?—I’d love for you to join me on this new adventure. Watch the video below - and make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any upcoming videos —I’d love to have you along for this next chapter!
For those of you supporting me as paid subscribers (and a heartfelt thank you for that), I’ve added an extra section below with pictures. If you’re not already a paid subscriber, consider joining—there’s currently 50% off both monthly and yearly subscriptions. This will give you full access to my posts, including behind-the-scenes snippets about how our move into a crumbling, big old Georgian manor house is going. I’ll be sharing plenty about the house-buying process, the move itself, and, of course, the joys (and inevitable chaos) of restoring our new home.
